Some tips and tricks helping you to get best results for
amazing and everlasting underwater images
Best results for amazing baby swimming photos – specially the ones underwater always depend on various factors. One of course is the wellbeing and mood of the baby that day, one is the way how the baby moves while beeing submerged and floting, and another one is the quality of the water. Non of these are predictable. But if you follow our tips you can increase the chance of getting beautiful photos with just a few things to remember.
Do not be afraid
Don't be afraid of your baby's "dive". You already practiced submersion in your course and if baby is not ready or not feeling well nothing will be forced or done unwanted. Baby's well-being has always first priority.
Keep your eyes open
Underwater photos are more expressive when you have your eyes open while submerging. Even if you are wearing soft contact lenses you can still open your eyes underwater. Your contact lenses will not get lost.
"Inflated cheeks"
Dipping in together with the child usually takes as long as you count from 20 to 22. Many parents take a deep breath before diving. This may result in the "inflated cheeks" effect underwater and it might create very funny photos. But the images will look more natural and beautiful if you follow our little tip to avoid big cheeks: Exhale lightly before diving and count during diving 20, 21, 22. Try to practice that before the actual dive first time and you will notice that you can easily hold your breath for several seconds without any effort and without showing "big cheeks". A relaxed smile into the camera underwater is now easy as pie.
Be brave with color
Depending on the swimming pool and the lighting conditions at the location, the backgrounds of underwater shots vary from dark blue to blue-greenish. You can create beautiful contrasts in the picture by wearing strong colors. If you have the opportunity, we recommend swimwear in yellow, orange, neon green, pink or red over the swim diaper for your baby. Of course, the color recommendation also applies to the swimwear of the parents. Again, be brave with color!

How does the shoot work?
The session is similar to a usual swimming lesson. A trained baby handler acts as the instructor, with a maximum of four to five children in the water at once. If everything is okay after having a small welcome briefing, then our baby handler will start with their first submersion. Once underwater, the photographer has a very short time frame to get the shots. Ideally, we can do a total of three to four submersions with your little one, so you have a good selection of shots to choose from. Please note that we’re always guided by them and will only ever take as many photos as they’re comfortable with.
How long does an underwater photo session take?
Sessions typically last about 30 minutes
Do I need to get in the water with my child?
Yes, every child must be accompanied by at least one adult in the water.
What safety measures are in place?
Certified professionals oversee the shoot, and trained staff are always present. Your child’s safety is our top priority.
Will my child need to hold their breath underwater?
Children are guided to submerge naturally, with supervision and without stress. Babies have a natural reflex that helps them hold their breath. This ‘gag reflex’ kicks into action when your baby feels water on their face, nose or throat.
How should I prepare my child for an underwater photo session?
Ensure they are well-rested, fed, and hydrated before the session.
Familiarise them with the water environment if they aren’t already comfortable.
What should my child wear?
Bright-coloured swimsuits work best for underwater photos. Avoid busy patterns or logos. Babies are required to wear a double nappy system and eventually a swimming costume over it – just as they would wear in baby swimming classes.
Are costumes provided?
Yes, we provide costumes, props and fabrics at the poolside, but you’re welcome to bring your own. Keep it simple and easy to put on and off.
Can I wear make-up during the shoot?
How do I order and view the images from the photoshoot?
Log in to our shop system with the details we provided by email as soon as the images are ready and uploaded into our shop system. Have a look at the packages we offer if you like more than one image/more than the images included in your booking. Please check your spam folder for the email with your login details. Images are uploaded approximately two to three weeks after the session.
What products are available to buy in the shop?
Digital Images: high resolution digital images. These images are professionally edited and enhanced for lasting memories.
Prints and Extras: You can buy prints in various sizes, canvas and textile products.
What in the images is edited?
Our photo editors remove unwanted hands, legs, and instructor parts. Furthermore, all images are then enhanced individually. While we aim to minimise baby handler presence, some edits may be limited if the child is held during the shoot.
How are digital images delivered?
Images are ready for download as soon as your order is completed. They are provided in high-resolution JPEG format, which can be used to print all kinds of photographic products.
Can I print the images myself?
How long does delivery take?
Prints are sent to a professional photo lab to ensure best quality. Therefore, please allow up to 5 to 10 working days for delivery. Postage or courier charges may apply as extra.
What image sizes are provided?
High-resolution JPEGs which are suitable for large prints.
Are RAW files available?
Is the watermark removed?
Yes, the watermark is only visible on the selection pages in the shop. The downloads and prints and any other products are without any watermark.
Can I reschedule my booked photo shoot?
If your baby is unwell on the day of the shoot, we offer reshoot vouchers to accommodate you. To qualify, simply email us in advance to notify us of your situation.
What if I didn’t get the shot I hoped for?
We do not offer free reshoots. However, attending swimming lessons and trained baby handlers reduces the risk of not capturing a perfect shot.
How much do images cost for multiple children?
Prices are charged per image as listed on our price list. Packages usually work well.
What about bringing a sibling to the photoshoot?
Siblings need to be booked in additionally for the same booking fee.
